Every quote started with a hunt for a similar old proposal, and every customer reply was rewritten from scratch. Three tasks repeated every day that, most of the time, needed no judgement at all.
The starting point
Every quote started with a search for similar past proposals, followed by copying and adjusting prices by hand. Customer replies repeated the same handful of questions, rewritten each time. Marketing went out when someone had time — which is to say, irregularly.
What was built
- QuotesProposals pre-filled from the request and the current price list. The salesperson reviews and adjusts the margin instead of starting from scratch.
- Customer repliesDrafted from the company’s real information. Anything off-script goes to a person.
- MarketingGoes out on a schedule instead of depending on someone having time.
Nothing goes out unreviewed: a salesperson sets the margin before the quote moves on, and any reply that leaves the script passes through a person.
What we still do not know
It is the most recent of the three and has no closed measurement yet. The pattern is the same as the textile case: measure first, automate after.
